  Frequently Asked Questions
  Who owns Marsh Supermarkets?
Marsh Supermarkets is 100% owned by Sun Capital Partners, a private equity firm based in Boca Raton, Fl.

Who Runs Marsh Supermarkets?

When Sun Capital bought Marsh Supermarkets, the Marsh family had to give up its role in the company. Sun Capital brought Frank Lazaran in to be CEO. Frank previously served as CEO of Winn-Dixie - another regional grocery chain - where he led the company into a bankruptcy that cost more than 20,000 people their jobs.

What would the sale of Marsh mean to Marsh Associates?
Nobody knows for sure, but the last time Marsh was sold, Sun Capital squeezed this company for all it was worth by stripping benefits, cutting hours and pushing workers to do more work with less hours. Since Marsh Associates currently have no representation, a buyer would not be required to negotiate with workers.

What is Build a Better Marsh?
Build a Better Marsh is a community project of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union, which represents 13,000 workers in Indiana and over 1.5 million nationwide.

Why is the Build a Better Marsh concerned about the fate of Marsh Associates?
Because what happens to Marsh workers affects grocery workers thoughout Indiana. Build a Better Marsh and the UFCW are committed to improving the lives of all grocery workers.
