  1. Our History
    • The predecessor Locals of UFCW Local 700 date back to as far as 1892 in Indiana.
      The first Retail Union in North America is generally thought to have been founded in Lafayette, Indiana.
    • UFCW Local 700 was created in 1992 with the merger of the Indianapolis, Terre Haute, Evansville and South Bend Local Unions. This created a Local Union that represented more than 11,000 members in Indiana, Illinois, Ohio and Michigan.

    • UFCW Local 700 negotiates contracts that provide our membership with job protections, job security, wage increases, health care insurance, pension and retirement benefits, seniority., grievance & arbitration language, and language that gives workers a voice in their jobs.
  4. Our Community Involvement
    • Local 700 is also involved in many community projects. An example of community involvement is the money Local 700 raises each year that goes directly into research to find cures for Leukemia.
      Local 700 has raised more than $300,000.00 and has assisted the UFCW International Union in raising more than $15,000,000.00 for Leukemia research over the past several years.

    • UFCW Local 700 is a charted Local of the United Food & Commercial Workers International Union. The UFCW is the largest private sector union in America with more than 1.4 million members.
